About Eliethel
Born in Greece and raised under the influence of the Muppet Show, Mozart and Mary Poppins, she grew through intense classical training right into the arms of jazz and the sound manipulations of electroacoustic music. Quickly replaced the red plastic toy piano she started exploring the world of music with, at the age of 3, with a real one, and spent her evenings improvising melodies and writing songs. Got the full taste of epic proportions’ heavy metal with an electric guitar, during the angry years of teenage, to reach even further and embellish her sonic palette with electronic, ambient, world music, and her first Korg synth. Her restless spirit developed an early interest towards philosophy and spirituality and the introduction to new age lead to an holistic approach to musical interpretation and a love for all things musical and sounds in general.
It’s not easy to fit her diversity and freely rich creativity into categories. To her, music is one canvas with many shades and textures. Abundant like life itself, sometimes moody and introspective, other times affluent in expressions and gestures. Her quest is one of balance, or even the challenges one faces while looking for it, and the attainment of the highest individual human potential, for herself and the others. This journey takes the listener to places familiar and cozy, but encourages him or her to also explore new possibilities and potentials.
The ingredients have all been carefully placed into position through years of musical training. She is a multi-instrumentalist, but her main instruments are the piano and her voice. In addition she holds degrees in harmony, counterpoint, electronic music, sound engineering, jazz and is currently an undergraduate of Ionian University‘s musical department, studying composition.
She released her debut album, “Streams” (LP), in the 5th of November 2009. “Streams”, is an instrumental album featuring an immense combination of diverse elements, a fusion of down-tempo electronica that sometimes touches the edges of trip-hop, other times flirts with jazz and classical music, accentuating ethereal new-age and lounge soundscapes with a rock/pop attitude. “Streams”, is a journey within the depths of the human dreams and wishes, the unfulfilled ones and the hopes that linger on, the feelings of rejection and the optimistic moods. Like the soundtrack of a contemplating stroll through the alleys during a rainy afternoon… For the release of this album she embraced the new reality in music industry and did not wait to get discovered. She took things in her own hands and activated the entrepreneur within, forming a small, independent label, Musicove Productions.
Her second album, “Audtributes I” (EP), was released on the 5th of March 2010. The mood of this new album is still ambient, but this time quite experimental. The title “Audtributes I” firstly suggests that it is a first creation of a series she intends to continue producing. Secondly it is a word-game between the words attributes, audio and tributes, describing the process of creation and her intention. It’s a game within the attributes of sound, and small tributes to the magnificent gift of Sound. Each listening attempt might give you a new perspective of sonic qualities, as you will be discovering things you didn’t hear in the previous play. The names of the songs are all taken from the Greek Mythology.
Two more albums are currently in production. The first featuring orchestrated lush piano melodies and the second in the electronic/alternative genre, this time (and for the first time) with lyrics.
