“How much more grievous are the consequences of anger than the causes of it.”
~Marcus Aurelius
On occasion of the upcoming premiere of the last season of LOST, and since the man of my life hadn’t seen any episodes yet, we decided to start a marathon and watch them all from the start. Today we were watching the last episode of the second season. The one where Desmond becomes so angry from the lies the previous resident of the hatch had told him, that in the heat of the moment he pushes him so hard that he kills him… And he forgets about the button and causes the plane crash.
It made me think of the enormous consequences, sometimes caused by the feeling of anger. Especially anger that gets buried inside of us, anger we don’t even realize we’re feeling unless it’s too late. Sometimes thinking twice or counting to ten doesn’t really help and all advice about anger management only cause more anger! Because the real source of it might be well hidden. Anger is definitely not a good advisor. I’ve done my share of stupid things will being enraged and realised that I had to work in depth, with myself, to release the primary source of my – however righteous – indignation.
You see, no matter what happens in our lives, small or big, a calm mind can handle it better. It’s just stronger. More ready to react in a healthy way, has better judgement to make good choices. It is for certain a life-time journey to arrive to the point of absolute zen, a point we might never achieve completely. But it’s a thing that motivates.
So take a walk outside, alone, whenever you can! -Why not listen to my “Streams” album while you’re at it?
- Listen to soothing music, or enjoy the sounds around you. Breath in the air and feel it! Focus within and connect with your center. Listen to that tiny voice that knows what’s really bothering you. Listen closely. Run, jump, pounce, scream if you can, throw pebbles in the sea, get it out, all that buildup of energy! Let it out and be free!
Now I just hope we’ll manage to see the rest 3 seasons before the premiere!
