In writing, once again

// November 23rd, 2009 // 0 Comments // Blogging

When was it? About 20 years ago or so… The post offices where happy places. People communicated through letters. Often. There where adds in teenage magazines looking for pen-buddies. That was the trend. People always loved socialising, exchanging interests and hobbies, opinions and information. There where pop and rock stars’ fan clubs. Everything in mailing form. People used to write.

Then came the mobile phone revolution. Text messaging replaced the good ol’ plain letter. But it was not the same. SMS, only few words available, can’t write as much as you want unless you send multiple messages… More and more the communications turned towards live calls.

But nowadays the writing words have regained their once lost glory. Blogging, social networks, personal websites and the lot… Writing forms of communication once again. Different but still the same. Along with writing came attention to detail again, politeness, social skills. Good times…

7 Tips To Overcome The Lyric Writing Block

What I like to do, if I get stuck during the lyrics process, is to focus on the subject of my song and the structure of the verse or chorus. Especially if you’ve already written a cool and catchy verse, what you can do on the second one, is to build upon what you’ve already written. Some methods: (more…)

DeadZone

Close to me
I brought the daffodils
I felt my roots
Encapsulating me

Can I atone
For awakening the abyss
This is my DeadZone
My place of endless bliss

Carry me
Across the continents
Upon your wings
I found my liberty

My songs have gone live on Jango! They already received enough votes to qualify for general rotation. A huge thank you to all of you who voted for me!

Check out this cool online radio station (my personal favorite). What’s so cool about it, is that you have total control on what is played or not, simply because you build the stations you listen to. The process is really simple. Once you get to the main page you simply enter the name of your favorite artist and click play. Then you need to sign up for free to start building your radio station(s) with any artist of your choice. The stations play randomly, adding artists that sound alike the ones you’ ve picked. You then have the choice to rate each song by clicking on the little faces, and thus include the song or not on your station’s rotation.

Another cool fact about this station is that it’s a great tool for discovering new music and you can help emerging artists (like myself :) ) get more exposure. Total control over what the radio plays or not, plus new music discovery, plus actively helping new artists, what else could a music lover want? (Yes, I have my own user account and I just love creating radio stations :P ).

Hope I’ll see you on Jango soon! Have fun and enjoy good music!

And off to write more music!
